News for October 2015

JOC Members and Friends of Youth:

Congratulations on a successful previous year.  The Jerome Optimist Club made Honor Club!  We were up two members and met all other requirements.  Marsha Martin, Lloyd & Barbara Martin, Paul Martin and Bobby Dye made us enough money to flourish for another year with the rental of the Dunk Tank donated by the Jerome Rotary Club and Deb Hayes got us a $5,000 scholarship donation from the Jerome Wal-Mart.  Thank you!!!  Thank you!!! Thank you!!!

Your Officers are the same effective October 1, 2015:  President Sheri Mitchell; Vice President Julie Stadelman and Secretary/Treasurer Marsha Martin.

The New Board of Directors effective October 1, 2015:  Sheri Mitchell, Julie Stadelman, Marsha Martin, Patti Luper, Patricia Migluiri, and Lori Tangen.

Meeting Location:  We have been given an invitation to move our meetings to the Elk's Lodge off 93 for no costs.  They serve food and beverages of all kinds.  The Jerome Senior Center also has a new Director Gillian Minter so that option is available.  Please let me know your thoughts.  I suggest a test meeting at the Elk's on November 4th.  6:00 Eat and Greet and 6:30 meeting.  Please contact Sheri 308-3264.

Mark your calendars - Breakfast w/Santa is set for December 12th.  We will serve Breakfast 7:30 to 10:30.  Volunteers are needed.  Marsha already has the hash browns ordered.  Our donation letter is being sent to Ridley's today.  If you can donate or volunteer please contact Lori at 320-2305 or Julie at 308-2750.  The school has been notified for volunteers.

Coats for Kids will start when winter hits.  There is a Coat Request Form being sent to the schools.  If you would like a Coat Request Form or know someone who needs a coat or for coat pick ups contact Sheri 308-3264.  Barrels will be at the Jerome Library, Jerome Wal-Mart and the Jerome Creamery by the end of October.

The Storage Unit was cleaned out last Saturday - thanks to Marsha, Sheri and Julie!  We have stuff organized and ready for the year.  If you have items you would like to donate to the Club please let us know.

Poker Night Anyone?  - Are you having a party, know someone who is having a party, we would like to make some extra money by renting out the gaming tables.  We have 8 working poker tables and one crap table.  Rent one, rent them all no donation is too small.

Easter Egg Hunt - Our Chairperson has decided to step done.  If no one else is interested in chairring the project, it was discussed at the meeting to send a letter to the other Service Clubs of Jerome along with the Jerome Chamber, Jerome Recreation District and the Jerome Wal-Mart to see if they would like to take over the Hunt.  We would donate our supplies and notify the Jerome Recreation District that we will no longer hold an Easter Egg Hunt at the Forsythe Park.  I believe it has been over 30 years that the Jerome Optimist Club has held an Easter Egg Hunt there; however, with resources low and Member decline focus will be on other projects.

We're on an Adventure serving together the Youth of Jerome.  THANK YOU!!!

The best cookie award was given to Barbara Martin.  Her sugar cookies are the best (with or without frosting)!  (Yes, I am a bit bias to my Mom's cookies.)

The Club had the honor of re-instating the membership of long time member, Lloyd Martin and excitement of installing a enthusiastic new member Bobby Dye.
