Meeting tonight! See you there...

Yes, I know it's the 3rd Wednesday of the month and yes, I know that we decided to have our meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month and yes, I know that means something must be up and you're right - something is definitely up.  And although it pains me greatly to do things out of order, I've been instructed to say this:

Instead of having our regularly scheduled meeting next week, November 24th, which is the day before Thanksgiving, Captain Bob has decided that it would be better to HAVE A MEETING TONIGHT, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Jerome Senior Center, 520 N. Lincoln in Jerome.

I don't know what's on Captain Bob's agenda but I can tell you that we will probably talk about Youth Appreciation where we honored 142 kids for being outstanding youth in the Jerome Community.  It was an amazing night - we wish everyone could have been there to see all the kids, parents, grandparents, teachers and community leaders gathered together to honor these wonderful kids.  Wow - it still takes my breath away.

I also can tell you that we'll talk about our upcoming event, Breakfast with Santa, that will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. Jerome's Catholic Parish Hall in Jerome.  Breakfast will be served from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. so Optimists will need to be there around 5:30 a.m. (or as I like to call it o'dark thirty) to begin the festivities which include, but are not limited to, setting-up, decorating, cooking, waitressing, waitering (is that a word?), baking, candlestick making, entertaining, singing, dancing, laughing, jumping, climbing, etc.  If you can do one, or all of these things, whether individually or at the same time, WE NEED YOU!  And really, this is one of our favorite events so if you're in the area, please come by and lend a hand.  And, if you're not in the area, send us a text to let us know you're thinking of us.  Oh, and pray for SNOW!!

That's all for now.  If I've forgotten anything, I'm sure Captain Bob will tell me, to which I'll respond....HEY, I'm just a volunteer!

Happy Wednesday!

Yes, we know it is the third Wednesday, but...

Youth Appreciation Awards Ceremony tonight

Tonight is the Youth Appreciation awards ceremony at Summit Elementary located at 200 10th Avenue West in Jerome.  Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m.  The Jerome Optimist Club together with Judge Tom Borresen (an Optimist and a Rotarian), in conjunction with the Jerome Rotary Club, will be honoring 142 students this year - more than ever before!  How exciting to see the youth of our community standing out in such a positive and Optimistic way!  Governor Ed always asks "How are the Children?"  Well, I think that tonight we can say the children are AWESOME!!

See you tonight!!
